Darn, sorry. I forgot to change the subject (as you can tell, I'm on digest mode as well as lurk mode:).

Maybe I made up for it with my bug report? Let's see, what's that syntax again ...

On Jan 27, 2005, at 12:22 PM, Markus Hitter offered this insight:

Am 27.01.2005 um 18:01 schrieb Tony Cebzanov:

Scenario: In Xcode 1.5, editing email addresses in C style comments causes this exception:

-[NSLayoutManager _fillLayoutHoleAtIndex:desiredNumberOfLines:] *** attempted layout while textStorage is editing. It is not valid to cause the layoutManager to do layout while the textStorage is editing (ie the textStorage has been sent a beginEditing message without a matching endEditing.)

I can get it to happen 100% of the time when I type an email address in a comment, then backspace a single character within that email address. A google search turned up something about multiple fonts causin something similar, so I disabled multiple fonts, but I still get this crash.

Is this a known bug,

To make sure, file one at <http://www.bugreporter.apple.com/> The text above sounds good already.

Two things I want to throw in here, if I may ...

I was easily able to reproduce this bug on my machine as well, using a WebObjects project (all Java code). I don't know what kind of project Tony is working on, but it doesn't have to be a C project (it does require C style comments (/**/), as Tony noted. I tried the same thing with the "//" comments and noted no problems with this).

Also, drop the www off that link. Bugreporter is at <http://bugreporter.apple.com>. I'm filing one myself in a few minutes (Tony, you should also take a moment to file a bug. I can't imagine Apple not being able to reproduce it or anything, but there may be other "influences" they can draw from both reports. Also, it's harder for them to ignore two bug reports than it is to ignore one, if you get my drift ...)

<lurk mode>

and if so, any ETA on a fix from Apple?

Apple never tells ETA's.
