Does your program have a large number of global variables, and do you
have the Global Variables window open (or were any of those globals
added to the "Global Variables" item in your variable display)? If so,
then you're running into a performance problem in the debugger.
Try closing the Global Variables window, and if you have any globals
listed under the "Global Variables" item in your debugger display,
remove them. If that doesn't solve the problem, you'll need to crack
open the ".pbxuser" file in your project bundle, look for the
"savedGlobals" key, and delete it.
(The above advice came from Jim Ingham, the underlying problem is filed
as Radar 4147425.)

Someday I'll look back on all this and laugh... until they sedate me.
