This is a just a vague guess - but I've seen XCode misbehave like this when it had trouble with one or more variables it was trying to display in the debugger. There could be something wrong in your code that makes a variable problematic to display. Try setting the breakpoint earlier, and/or at the start of a function/method rather than in the middle.
