If you first click inside the window, the search will work. The contents of the Release Notes aren't given focus (or whatever) when they're brought up. Not sure if that's a bug or WaD, but it's an easy enough workaround.

In XCode 2.1, display the Xcode 2.1 Release Notes. Press Cmd+F to bring up Single File Find dialog. Enter something known to be in the release notes, such as 'gcc' (without single quotes) and ensure Ignore Case and Contains are both selected. Hit Next and notice that it reports "Not found".

However there are several instances of the search string in the release notes. 100% reproducible here.
