I had to reinstall the Java Documentation using the
Java14Documentation.pkg (iirc) from the Tiger install CD. I don't
recall exactly where it was, Xcode --> Tools --> Documentation or
something like that.
What was a little odd is that the install process seemed to hang for
several minutes towards the end, not sure why, but it did finally
complete. However, it's missing the index.html file! Which of course
makes it somewhat useless to bookmark in Safari. Now when I go here:
file:///Developer/ADC Reference Library/documentation/Java/
Reference/1.4.2/doc/api/index.html
from this page:
file:///Developer/ADC Reference Library/referencelibrary/
API_Fundamentals/Java-api-date.html
I get this in Safari:
No file exists at the address “/Developer/ADC Reference Library/
documentation/Java/Reference/1.4.2/doc/api/index.html”.
And, if I go to that directory on my system, it looks like pretty
much every "normal" javadoc file is there (packages.html, overview-
frame.html, etc.) including the sub-directories for java, javax, and
org. But, no index.html!
Time to file a bug. I'll do it tomorrow.

Did you happen to install the May 2005 Documentation update? It
seems to have removed the Java API reference & consequently searching.

I used to be able to lookup Java API documentation in XCode's
Documentation feature under Help. However this is no longer
true. I can navigate to the API reference, but I can't perform an
API search anymore. I've installed both Java 1.4.2 documentation
and Java 1.5.0 documentation and both appear under the Java
reference section of ADC Reference Library. I've even deleted
documentation and reinstalled it and still the problem persists.
Do I need to manually index the documentation like in previous
versions of XCode? That used to be documented, but I don't see
anything in XCode 2.0.
