Hi. How do write a program to determine if let say a particular software is installed?

Whats the best way to do it on the mac?

In windows I can check the registry…. What about on the mac?

I tried to parse output from  the command  $ system_profiler

It sorta work, but I think its very slow and probably not the way to do it.

So anyone know whats the correct way?

Thanks,

yee
