XCode EOModel design tool

  • Subject: XCode EOModel design tool

Is it possible in XCode 2.2 to switch the orthogonal relationship lines in a design file to diagonal lines like can be done in EOModeler? The automatic layout that the XCode tool does is really poor - too many lines crossing entities and overlapping one another. Closing and re-opening the design file helps the layout a little (for some totally non-obvious reason... you'd think the code would always produce identical results), but its orthogonal layout is still confusing as hell when looking at a big model. I'm hoping there's an undocumented preference that can be changed via "defaults write com.apple.Xcode"...

And under the same topic, can entities be copied and pasted from one EOModel file to another in the XCode tool like can be done in EOModeler? The XCode tool seems to copy an "empty" entity with no attributes or relationships, no matter how or in which view I select an entity. It seems odd that we have to keep EOModeler around because the XCode tool is maturing at such a snail's pace. It feels as if developer tools are suffering from brain-drain by being pulled into iApp development...

Thanks,
Brock Brandenberg
