In my project's build directory there is a SharedCaches folder which I
understand is where the precompiled headers are cached. I have noticed
though there are quite a few folders with a variety of modification

get confused? A google search didn't reveal anything nor did posting
on Apple Discussions nor a couple of other Mac related sites receive
any response. A list archive search also did not turn up any relevant
responses. Thanks.
It's safe to remove any and all of them. Xcode will automatically
purge older ones when the cache exceeds 1Gb in size, and will rebuild
missing precompiled headers as needed.
