I don't intend the following comments to be directed specifically at Robert, but when I see all of these complaints about the slowness of XCode in dealing with large files, I always wonder why people aren't doing the right thing and breaking these large files up into several smaller, more manageable files.
In my development experience it is rare for there to be a real need to have a file of that size. And it is usually much easier for humans (as well as the IDE and complier) to deal with smaller files.
