Speeding up XCode?
Speeding up XCode?

XCode is slow. Very slow.
I'm not talking about speeding up compile time. That's slow, but
manageable. I'm concerned about user interface actions. For example,
opening a file in an editor window can take five to fifteen seconds.
If a file is visible in more than one editor window, I can type faster
than the editor can display it. Using the arrow keys to move the
cursor through a line maxes out the CPU, and the cursor moves slower
than I can press the key.
And forget about project management. Four hours ago, I dragged a few
hundred files from one build target to another, to add them to that
target. I hope it will finish up before I leave work this evening, so
I can actually try compiling.
Is there anything that can be done to speed things up? I'm using
XCode 1.5 on MacOS 10.3, and I don't anticipate upgrading to 10.4 any
time soon.
Thanks,
Mark Wagner
