But you can achieve the same results with a two step process:
- Open any file in a new window. You could even open a duplicate window of the file you're editing right now by Control/Right-clicking on the text and choosing "Open in Separate Editor".
- Using the Option+History menu to select your recent file.
What would really be nice is an Open Recent file menu that was split between projects and files the way the Apple menu's open recent menu is split between applications and documents.
You can always file an enhancement request.

<laughing> I feel the same way. I almost wrote as much in the book I'm writing on Xcode. My technical editor took me to task because he actually *likes* the single-window layout and uses it all the time, even on a large monitor. This would drive me insane.
