a "Open Recent" command somewhere in Xcode? I see a Recent Project

There isn't a global "Open Recent" for regular files.

However, in the navigation bar of the editor pane is the file history menu. It's next to the previous/next navigation arrows. It shows the list of files that have been opened in that pane. Hold down the Option key and it will show the global history list for that project (i.e. the list of files that have been opened in any pane). Not exactly the same as an "Open Recent" command, but pretty darn close.

Thanks for the tip. But it really is not close for it doesn't open the file in its own window, which totally defeats the purpose of opening multiple files at the same time.

Single window source editor was my most hated thing toward the previous versions of XCode. It's just stupid. It might be OK for a project with only one header and one source files and outputs only 2 billion variations of "Hello World" but it's just not for any decent projects.

The recent versions finally allow multiple files being edition in their own windows. Which is the reason I even dared to start using it. But all signs so far point to the fact that Apple really doesn't know what a modern IDE is like. And the company-wise obsession toward Cocoa does not help either, as indicated in the current speed issue thread.

We are on an anti-evolution path here. And there's nothing we as 3rd party developers can do. Sigh.
