How to fix old Apple Sample GrabBag.pbproj for Xcode?

Around year 2001 Apple DTS published a Sample Code project GrabBag.pbproj
which I need to learn some tricks from. When I open it in Xcode it
supposedly "updates", but upon "Build" I get 1 error message:

Missing file or directory: /usr/lib/libstdc++.a

I suppose I could poke around and maybe find this file but I'm worried that
this may be the tip of an iceberg which needs to be fixed the "right" way.
It's a simple "out of box" failure. Please tell me what to do.

Jerry Krinock
