Setting Build locations

I am having trouble changing Build locations. My prereferences have had for a while

Build: /usr/local/Build
Intermediates: /usr/local/Build/Intermediates

I now want to change this. But even after having changed this in my Preferences, my project keeps using the old locations. My targets have entries for this too, so I had to change the locations for every target. This becomes a maintenance nightmare.

How can I reset info on targets such that they just copy what has been set globally or maybe set in a target it depends on? That is, how can I change the customization of a target build setting?
