OK… So, as promised, I'm back with some results :) ! And… they're
kind of mixed :/ !
Alexander, Frederik, David, you were right in saying that building as
PPC-only from an Intel-based Mac was possible since I managed to do so
by starting from scratch with a "Cocoa Application" project. Yay!
*BUT* my 2nd test was to do the exact same test (i.e. to turn the
"Architecture" project-based build property's value to "PowerPC"—or
rather "ppc") with a brand new "Cocoa-Java Application" project and…
it failed :( ! The generated app is Intel-only :( !
So at this stage, I'd need to re-phrase my question: could it be
possible to build for PowerPC from an Intel-based Mac *a "Cocoa-Java
Application" project*? So I tried another test…
Since I *alas* know that building as Universal requires *native*
targets—and that's why I still can't build my main project as
Universal (sigh)—, I decided to see if, once its target turned into
native, this project would generate a PowerPC-based executable… and
yep, it did!
So now, it seems to me that:
1) I don't know how to build Cocoa-Java projects for PPC only from an
Intel Mac, or
2) Like for delivering Universal Binaries, Xcode *requires* all
targets of a project to be native.
Can someone confirm one or another statement? (I obviously would
prefer someone telling me 2) is false and how to deprecate 1) with
clever directions to follow ;) !)
Bye, and thanks to all of you for your help. It seems this is my last
chance to get a convenient road (building everything right now for
both architectures on my unique machine) before being forced to take a
more complicated path (finishing the morphing of my Cocoa-Java
project… which means delays in publishing updates of my app :( !)
