I had tried that.  It crashed in other log-ins as well.  But, I have managed
to get going again.  It appears to have been something in
/Library/Application Support/Apple/Developer Tools that was not being
removed by the dev tools uninstall script.  After manually removing it and
reinstalling my crash problems are gone.
