That's what they recommend? Sounds weird, since most CVS users today (including Apple) are moving to Subversion that doesn't support tar-wrapped files anyway.

Yeah -- that ain't right. Please file a bug (http:// bugreport.apple.com) against the specific documentation that even remotely recommends wrappers.
