I have a project which has a bunch of .strings files in it. these files
are in the English.lproj folder of my project and so in Xcode they show
up in the groups list with a triangle and English beneath them. In
Xcode 1.5 the encoding shows up as Roman and I can double click the
file and edit it without a problem.
I converted the project and in Xcode 2.x they still show as having
roman encoding, but when I double click them it is clear that something
thinks they are utf16. Except that parts I have edited in Xcode 1.5
show up as 8 bit chars within the rest of the uneditable utf16.
If I change the encoding of the file in Xcode 2.x to utf16 and tell it
to reinterpret then I can see the text correctly except for those same
characters which were changed in Xcode 1.5.
Clearly the files are messed up. I am looking for the right process to
fix them. I think they should all be utf16
I am sure they were all added to the Xcode 1.5 project using drag and
drop and that I ignored the encoding and just assumed they'd be added
the right way.
