This comes up somewhat often. In case you're not married to the idea
of using a property list compiler, here's a solution for the specific
problem of wanting to define a version in one place. I use the "Build
Settings" as the repository for my version string:

Is there any way to edit the copyright string without doing it
directly in the Info.plist file? The properties window seems to
contain some info.plist fields but not all of them. I'm not sure I
understand the relationship between this properties window and the
text file.
