distcc not using localhost

  • Subject: distcc not using localhost

I am sure there is just something that I am missing _BUT_ I thought I would give distcc a try since I have a MacMini sitting idle most of the time (local email server only) so I installed Xcode 2.2 on it and set it up to accept compiles. I then go over to my regular machine (PB 1.67GHZ) and start the compile. I noticed that distcc was _always_ sending the compile to the mini and nothing to the local machine. I did notice that in the compiler console output the following is there:
setenv DISTCC_HOSTS mailserver.local/3 <-- This is the MacMini Machine

I would have thought I would have seen both machines listed? or at least localhost in this list?

Is this the default behavior? Is it worth it trying to include the Mini when it is a slightly slower machine than my regular build machine?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
