I am migrating from windows to Mac, which means that I am looking
for environments in Mac that I can relate to the Windows
environment on which I have worked for quite some time.
Seeing a Mac as a Windows box in a prettier housing is the wrong
approach. Windows to Mac OS X is more different than Windows to Linux.
For e.g. Xcode is equivalent to MSVC++,
Mac OS X's strengths are Frameworks, Cocoa, Bindings, CoreData,
WebObjects, InterfaceBuilder, ... none of which exists in VisualC++.
Xcode supports more languages than VC++.
You _can_ try to clone MSVC++ on Mac OS X, but the result will likely
be suboptimal. I'd suggest to do at least each of the tutorials for
Cocoa, Cocoa with Bindings, CoreData and Carbon to see what I'm
talking about (most of them are called "CurrencyConverter"). Then
decide again.
Phillipe told you about Xcode's help menu, there you'll find the
tutorials as well.
Hope I didn't disencourage you too much,
Markus
