Which 'GCC_MODEL_TUNING' vor i386?

Xcode/gcc features a compiler setting called "GCC_MODEL_TUNING" (or "- mtune") which will "Optimize instruction scheduling for this CPU. Generated code will run on older processors."

What's the effect for i386 builds?
Is it disregarded?
Are there other optimizations to be chosen?

Regards, Dirk Stegemann
