I've just submitted this bug report.
I'm also posting it here because I think it could be useful to who is
wondering why the Java 1.4.2 API Reference doesn't show up anymore in
Xcode's Documentation Window.
Summary:
If the Java 1.4 Reference Documentation is already installed on the
system, Xcode Tools 2.2.1 installer corrupts the present Java 1.4
documentation by deleting index.html from [1] and [2].
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up a clean Mac OS X 10.4.4 system with the last software update
available from Software Update.app and no developer tools installed.
2. Mount the Xcode Tools 2.2.1 disk.
3. Open XcodeTools.mpkg.
4. Configure the installer to install only the "Java 1.4 Reference
Documentation" package (it's under the "Java 1.4 Developer Tools" group).
5. Perform the installation.
6. Notice that into folders [1] and [2] there is a file named "index.html".
7. Rerun the installation (open XcodeTools.mpkg again).
8. Configure the installer to install only the "Java 1.4 Reference
Documentation" package.
9. Perform the installation.
Expected Results:
The installation should not screw up the present installation of the
Java 1.4 reference documentation.
Actual Results:
The file index.html is deleted from [1] and [2].
Note:
Deleting index.html prevents Xcode from showing "Java 1.4.2 API
Reference: J2SE" and "Java 1.4 API Reference: Apple Extensions" in the
Developer Documentation window.
It errors "No file found at: /Developer/ADC Reference
Library/documentation/Java/Reference/1.4.2/doc/api/index.html" and "No
file found at: /Developer/ADC Reference
Library/documentation/Java/Reference/1.4.2/appledoc/api/index.html".
