Yes.

How is the compile speed on the new machines?

I think it's quite good, but I'd suggest trying it yourself. Here's one developer who seems to be pretty happy with it:

Is it still true that distributed compiling does not work between
Intel and PPC Macs?  Is it supported with multiple Intel Macs?

Distributed builds do not work between architectures, but they do work between systems of the same architecture.
