When I create a new Cocoa document-based app this is the default behaviour I get, and I see no reason to change it. XCode apparently thinks different(ly) ;-)
It's only me, then? Oh well, I've raised a Radar feature request, anyway.
Don't bother, it's addressed in a future release.
