It keeps the same IP.
I think it may have something to do with the mapping of the network folder.
I don't know macs that well, but it seems that sometimes it retains a
symbolic link to a previously mapped folder.

Does your computer get a different ip address each time you reboot? If
you are using DHCP to get an ip address then this is likely the issue.
Try using ssh to login to the remote machine to figure out exactly what
is going wrong.

Note that most firewall routers can be configured to ALWAYS return the
same tcp/ip adress for a specific
ethernet jack.
This assumes that you don't reboot your router at the same time.
