The real problem is that the error doesn't point to any specific part
in the code. And, as it turns out, the code compiles fine. Just

Maybe a dumb idea, but...
There was a thread just yesterday ("What is causing jam to fail with
exit code 1?") where someone was seeing jam fail with error 1. One
suggestion was to create a new Xcode project, rather than use a
converted project. The OP said that (plus a couple of code tweaks) did
the trick. Maybe you could try that approach?
