Like what? I can't imagine any setting or circumstance that could reasonably result in this curious difference.

I take the code that you posted in your follow-up to Chris, and I compile it, either from the command line or from Xcode, and (ignoring the fact that you don't show the #include of "libkern/OSTypes.h"), it works without a complaint.


I am using Xcode 2.2.1, on 10.4.5.

Either you are just in a Zone of Increasing Probabilities, or you aren't telling us something.
