Depends on the machine you're installing on. That "minute" took about an hour on a 12" Powerbook during one install I did, but I'm still not sure what caused the long wait. The PB wasn't "hung up" it was just doing things veeeeery slooooow. My suggestion: when the system seems to be "hung up" simply leave your desk/couch/wherever you are and do something else. Check back in an hour or so to see if somethings changed. I restarted the install five times, because I thought the process died on me. Then my girlfriend needed me for some household chores and I left the computer in the "time remaining: about a minute" state. Lo and behold, 90 minutes later it told me "install finished".
YMMV, was just my experience.

Hope this helps
Erik

When trying to install X-Code 2.2.1  it gets to the part where it's
installing developer documentation,  and it says...

  writing files: 73% Complete

Then it hangs up...   I don't really think it's a good idea to force
quit out of the installer,  but this is literally hung up - can someone
please advise me on what I can do?

How long does this process normally take?  I let it go for about an
hour.   Do you think I didn't let it go long enough.

What happens when I "force quit" the installer, and try again.
Is it smart enough to carry on from where it left off,  or will
it just try and re-copy the files again?
