XCode: New Localization

I choose "Add Localization ..." in e.g. an English.strings Info dialog, in order to create a German localization file. But XCode always creates the new file with File Type "Western (Mac OS Roman)" - instead of keeping the original's file type (e.g. UTF-8).

Is there a way how I can tell XCode to even copy the original file's file type?
