How do I see the linker map?

  • Subject: How do I see the linker map?
  • From: Doug McLean <email@hidden>

Greetings again. I would like to see the linker map for my project. Docs say:

"To have the linker generate a load map, add the -M option to your linker command-line options. In Xcode, you can add this option to the Other Linker Flags build setting."

Ok so far, but no map is apparent. Another confused poster to this list got told:
"The link/load map is written to standard error."

This clue was found using the man command. Obviously.

Now how do I see standard error, and even better, search the text? I have looked at XCode's Tools windows and all the Consoles I can find.

Please have mercy. I'm not interested in having to add "Unix geek" to my already geeked-out identity. I merely want to see which symbols my plug-in exports.

Thanks for your help.

Doug
