FWIW, I've noticed this problem with iTunes on Windows, too. I have to stop
playing whatever I'm trying to listen to, shutdown things like compilers,
etc. and then start playing again. I think that probably puts it in the
category of an iTunes problem, not an XCode problem. It's only started
happening since I upgraded to 7.0.x.
In any event, I don't believe the problem is specific to XCode.
