Hi, I'm looking for a way or tool to save my bookmarks in XCode
Documentation so they're not destroyed when I apply reference
library updates from Apple. I've noticed this deletion when I
applied the Sept 2006 update and I wish to avoid it before I apply
the October 2006 update.
Currently, bookmarks are deleted if the destination no longer
exists. From time to time we end up reorganizing the documentation
for one reason or another, which could break existing bookmarks. If
you have reason to believe that bookmarks are being deleted when the
destination hasn't changed, that's worth filing a bug.
On the developer.apple.com website, we have a better strategy for
this, in that we have a script that finds the nearest likely
destination if you go to an invalid URL. This usually gets you at
least to the same book you had bookmarked. For Xcode, deleting the
bookmarks is not ideal, and we hope to provide a more robust scheme
in the future.
