I think we're all a little guilty of taking the Development Tools team
for granted. I agree completely that Xcode gets significantly better
with each new release. I think that the team is usually
under-appreciated outside of Apple because their audience is
developers, not consumers.
Most end users aren't interested in cool new improvements to IB or a
GC version of Obj-C (trying to make sure I list only things that have
publicly been mentioned <grin>). But I know that I am!
Many of us went through the transition of CW to Xcode and like
anything else, change is sometimes difficult to accept. Change in
workflow, change in paradigms. I know Xcode strives to bridge many of
those differences. And for those of us that went through the
transition or are still going through the transition, we appreciate
the effort.
Sometimes we get really frustrated with our tools and because those
tools are critical to our own success as developers, we launch our
attacks without hesitation. We forget that folks at Apple are working
hard to make those tools better. We forget that filing a bug is a
necessary part of that improvement process to let you officially know
of a problem.
So I would just like to offer up thanks and kudos to the team and
apologize in advance for all my future gripes. And I'll try and make
sure I've logged a bug for each new gripe. :-)
