We have gotten strong pushback from people on in-program help like
this. I agree that there is a ton of stuff in Xcode that is not
very discoverable and only scantily documented, and we could
improve peoples' workflow by pushing these at them, but our
experience is that people do not want help in their faces, but
rather to be easily gotten on demand. Mailing lists, for example,
when not saturated with philosophical or advocacy threads, are
useful for this kind of thing.
FWIW, the need for this kind of help diminishes when applications are
written to be intuitive and familiar. For example, I've posted at
least two or three questions to this list regarding the use of
Xcode's Find in Project window that I wouldn't have needed to ask if
it used a more standard and intuitive design. That's not going to
solve all of these issues, but it will help.
