I would concur. The last thing we want is for the 'not invented
here' mind-set to take hold and limit our options for making Xcode
better than it is at the moment.
I have never used CodeWarrior, though in frustration with Xcode I did
look for it some time ago only to discover that it had been
discontinued. I briefly looked at Eclipse (for C++ development) and
found it to me fairly good but not ideal either. My main point of
reference for other IDEs is VisualStudio (and even VB6). Although
they are not perfect I find myself to be so much more productive in
those environments than I am in Xcode. For sure, some of this comes
from familiarity but I have tried to become familiar with Xcode and
sadly made very slow progress.
Cheers
John

The point is not to debate which is better as a product, but rather
to compare their implementations of specific features. Obviously
it's pointless to sit around and wait for CW to make a comeback,
but there's no reason we can't hope for and ask for Xcode to adopt
a CW-like implementation of a feature if we feel it was done better
in CW. It would be silly to act as if CW never existed just because
it's discontinued. Copying ideas from other products is a time-
honored tradition in software design and development. That said,
when the Xcode team can implement something even better, Yahoo!
FWIW, I don't think comparing Xcode to CW is any different than
comparing it to Eclipse, VS, or any other IDE, or even other text
editors (I think Xcode would benefit from adopting some features
from SubEthaEdit, for example). They're all products that may have
ideas and features that Xcode might benefit from adopting.
(Adopting other people's ideas certainly hasn't bankrupted
Microsoft. :-) I for one do not care where the Xcode team gets its
ideas. Requests in Radar, emulating CW or VS, or their own creative
genius. All I care about is having the best tool possible if I'm
going to use it 50+ hours/week to earn my living. So what say we
not exclude any possible source of ideas from Xcode debates?
