Today I upgraded from Xcode 2.0 to 2.4. It was not a trouble-free upgrade, I'm sorry to say.
I know it doesn't help you in the present case but some advice for the future is to perform incremental upgrades (2.0 to 2.1, 2.1 to 2.2 etc) instead of big, multi-version leaps.
After poking around and figuring out a tiny part of what Apple has actually done in moving from 2.0 to 2.4 (thanks for the poor-quality release notes!)
I've always found the release notes to be excellent and detailed, although obviously if you're upgrading from 2.0 to 2.4 you'll only be able to access the latest release notes (2.3 to 2.4) and the ones immediately before that ("Show Older Release Notes") in the Help menu. This is another reason why it's worth upgrading incrementally.
The Show Older Release Notes go all the way back to 1.5, if you look carefully. The popup menu in the File Navigator takes you directly to each section.
