position of the horizontal split is not being maintained. It seems
fairly random. Sometimes the build steps portion is completely
closed, and other times it can show anywhere from a few pixels to
dozens of pixel's worth of that part of the window.
Xcode 2.3 here, and my experience is that it isn't *ever* preserved
across either restarts of Xcode or closing and opening of projects.
