Did you not see the response I posted earlier?

In Xcode, select the file in the group tree.
Type <command>-I to show the info inspector.
Edit the name of the file in the inspector dialog.

This does not require hacking the project file, and it works fine (without
the notification storm). A much better work-around IMHO.
