It's a known and common problem. I can reproduce it. Based on what
Chris said is going on when it happens it sounds like the degree to
which you'll notice it may be dependent on the number of files you
have in the project.
When filing the bugreport, a sample will be helpful.
Comments like "a Macintosh LC is faster than that" are not helpful.
Sure they are. They help vent frustration. ;-) I find it especially
frustrating to deal with problems that manifest themselves
consistently when performing routine actions, and this one does for
me and at least some other people. Maybe we have more files in our
projects than those who don't see this or there's another factor that
causes some people to see this and not others. In any case, if you
see something like this consistently the natural assumption is that
they aren't testing things very thoroughly before they give them to
us to use. I don't know how valid that assumption is, but it's easy
to feel that way when do something this basic and you consistently
see a problem. I have a lot more tolerance for bugs that only
manifest themselves under extremely rare or unusual circumstances
than I do for those I can reproduce as easily as I can this one.
That's why I've always been so frustrated with Interface Builder.
Back when I was using it extensively (10.3 days) I encountered a
laundry list of bugs that I could reproduce consistently doing pretty
basic stuff.
FWIW, I haven't renamed anything from within the project window
lately, but I seem to recall that another workaround is to put the
name into editing mode and then not do anything for a few seconds, or
some such thing you'd think would have no effect.
