I added up removing both projects from my app project.
I then re-added the project in the order I wanted them to appear on the ld command-line and everything worked. :)
Thank you and sorry for the noob question(s). It is frustrating when you know what you WANT to do but you just aren't yet knowledgeable enough in the environment to find the right answers.
