I'd have to strongly disagree with that remark about SetFile. Apple's
own support article tell end users to run it.

Yes, they're actually suggesting that end users download the Xcode
tools (at 924megs and needs an ADC account..), install them, and run
a simple command with SetFile.
So it looks to me as if SetFile has moved to "end user" command line tool.
(And yes, that's an example of an absolutely horrid kbase article by
Apple, they should have just written a one-off tool and included it
as a download).

I don't think you'll see those tools move to the base install of Mac
OS X since they are considered developer tools.
