Hi,
Apologies in advance if this is a really dumb question. I searched
the archives but couldn't find anything.
In Interface Builder on Tiger, if you add a Format menu to your
MainMenu.nib, you don't have to do anything else - all of the menu
items are automatically wired up to their respective actions (e.g.
Font > Show Fonts gets wired to -orderFrontFontPanel:, Text > Show
Ruler gets wired to -toggleRuler etc).
However, in Interface Builder on Tiger, when you add the Format
menu, none of the menu items get connected to any actions. You have
to create all of the actions in FirstResponder yourself and connect
them manually. This is painstaking (especially given that I have to
do this regularly, as I often create little test text program
projects to test out features that will go in my main text editor
program).
Presumably, I am missing something really obvious here. Please feel
free to shout at me, provided you point me in the direction I am
missing at the same time.
Unfortunately Keith, this was an oversight on our part and we already
have a bug tracking it.
For now you'll have to connect the menu items manually -

Thanks in advance!
Keith
