I wouldn't know; I'm not using it, because it's somehow always in
the way.
Unfortunately I have no good idea how to solve this problem. Do you
all have really *big* monitors? (I've got a measly 1600x1200
display ...)
Use two displays. I use a cheap (well, free, actually) CRT as a
secondary, and put stuff like project windows and the research
assistant there. From an organizational standpoint, I find two small
displays almost (but not quite...) preferable to one big one, because
it provides nice clear boundaries.
