I was asked to convert a C# program to OSX. I understand C# is
similar to Java in some respects, though I'm not a Java man. Is
there a simple way to get a C# to C or something that would work
via XCode? Where would I start? There is nothing in XCode that
hints about such matters.
Some points for thought:
- If you want to try the binary and it doesn't use any platform-
specific features, you could try Mono. Otherwise, try an Intel Mac
and run Parallels
- When I used .NET (per commandline + BBedit), however, the Mono C#
compiler had really bad error messages compared to Microsofts (Shared-
Source) SSCLI compiler
- Xcode is a decent Objective-C IDE that by accident (design) also
allows other languages - at least for the compiler. Extending Xcode
is not documented. AFAIK an C# integration is hacked into Xcode
- I'd recommend for an rewrite to use an C++ Model layer (C# is
pretty much Javafied C++, without the "sharp" C++ edges) combined
with an Cocoa UI. Gives you moe flexibility with an "Windows version
catchup".
