Go to Cheetah3D's "Help", and there is a tutorial called "Making Mac OS X icons".

Basically you (1) set the background opacity to 0 to make it transparent, (2) render the image, and (3) save the rendered image with a ".icns" ending (e.g., "myicons.icns").
