ICA is the native API, and it will also allow use of TWAIN data
sources via the ICA API (i.e. apps using just ICA can access some/
most TWAIN data sources). ICA is really good at browsing cameras. It
has some support for scanners, but the last time I looked at it, it
had far less functionality than TWAIN has for scanners. That might
not be the case anymore...
TWAIN is an independent API that is implemented on multiple
platforms. Apple bundles a copy of the DSM with Mac OS X.
