It sounds terrible to me. I once accidentally launched a
distributed build with my laptop being only on wireless, the build
speed was atrocious. I don't remember if that was 802.11b or
802.11g, but chances are your internet connection is much slower
than that anyway.
Oh, and it just occurred to me that distributed builds only work
with the same kind of processor, so you'd need to distribute to
PowerPC Macs. You can't distribute from a PowerPC to an Intel or
vice versa IIRC.
Not even that, but all computers must also have the exact same
version of Mac OS X and Xcode.
It thought that might be the case, but I've never done DBs so I
wasn't sure. I was just recalling stuff I'd read on the list a while
back.
The upshot seems to be that doing a distributed build over the
Internet from a PowerBook G4 doesn't sound very useful.
