I checked, and there appear to be no ACLs in use on the relevant
directories.

Would there be ACLs enabled on the PowerPC and not on the Intel box?

Greetings,
I'm having sporadic issues with running PackageMaker on Mac OS 10.4.9
PPC from command line as part of my automated SCons build process.
At first it seemed to be a permissions issue with PackageMaker reading
the files from the package contents directory, but I've ruled this out
by explicitly setting the permissions on the files before invoking
PackageMaker.
Here's my command-line:
/Developer/Applications/Utilities/PackageMaker.app/Contents/MacOS/PackageMaker
-build -v -p
/private/var/buildbot/slave/my_proj/my_proj_trunk_darwin_static_release_ppc_incremental/build/build/darwin-static-release/installer/my_proj-powerpc-release.pkg
-proj
/private/var/buildbot/slave/my_proj/my_proj_trunk_darwin_static_release_ppc_incremental/build/installer/OSX/my_proj.pmproj
The error I keep getting is:
Creating Package Shell
Scanning Package Root
The package could not be created because of the following errors:
A problem was encountered with the "packagearchiver" tool.
What's odd is my Intel builds run fine without any complaints from
Packagemaker. Only the PPC build fails.
I'm running PackageMaker 2.1.1 on Mac OS X Server (PPC) 10.4.9 build
8P135.
Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick
