Or you can use wxWidgets (www.wxwidgets.org) for the GUI, etc.,

there are no Objective C wrappers for wxWidgets, correct?). Or
still better yet, forget the C/C++ family altogether and go
straight to Python (www.python.org) w/ wxPython (www.wxpython.org)
- the Python learning curve is a lot mellower than that of the C
family, and if you're just beginning OOP, you've got some learning
overhead anyway, so you might as well get the most bang for your
buck.
If you plan on writing real Mac apps, please don't do this. Cocoa
is the way to go for writing apps that users understand and enjoy
using.
Indeed. I checked out wxWidgets, and the first thing that jumped out
at me (n00b tho' I may be) is the rank disregard for Apple's HIG.
I'll be sticking with Cocoa and Objective-C. Besides, porting the
code won't be an issue since Windows doesn't have Core Animation.
Okay, so in fairness, DirectX 10 in Vista is intended to do a lot of
the same things. In fact, it's so different from ye-olde-DirectX
that it had a different name for a while, but I still don't care to
learn both right now.
